2007 Highlights

2007 seems to have absolutely flown past; I can't believe it's 2008 already!

So here are some of the highlights from 2007 from my point of view:

Project365: 4th Jan 2007 - First scan! The biggest has to be that Dawn and I became parents this year - our wee daughter Amy was born on 26th July. Life is completely different from how it was at the start of the year, but it's incredibly satisfying to witness even the tiniest of steps, like a smile, rolling over, reaching out for something, and so on.

Amy very happyAnd it's amazing how Amy's changed in the last 5 months... I had never appreciated how quickly babies develop.

Another personal highlight has been spending the weekend at the British Touring Cars Championships at Knockhill. A fantastic weekend watching the racing, and generally relaxing. Hopefully I'll be able to get back this year too.

There's also plenty at the corps that I'm very grateful for this year:

We've seen the start of a cafe, "Catch the Fire", and cell groups. I think these are important (and they count as highlights) because they present opportunities for us to meet new people, chat, worship differently (might as well spread the net as wide as possible, eh?), and develop our spirituality. Catch the Fire is probably the most established of the three, and the cafe and cell groups still need work, but I'm very pleased that they are all on the go.

The big, big, big highlights relating to the corps are that we enrolled a new senior soldier, three new junior soldiers, and two adherents this year. We've seen (at my count) six people saved this year too. Despite the fact that I often feel clueless, God is actually using us to spread His Kingdom... now that's got to be a highlight, don't you think?

I'm sure there's loads more that I could include here, but my memory really is pants :) Suffice to say it's been a pretty good year. There have been more than a few moments that I'd much rather forget, of course, but you're never going to get a perfect year, are you? I'm looking forward to seeing what happens this year, and how God uses us and the corps.

Wishing you and yours a very enjoyable and profitable 2008.
